Multi-Altitude Assault Transport, or MAAT, was an class of gunship used by early Galactic Empire to replace the LAAT/i gunship during the Galactic Civil War. Several of these gunships were stolen, however, by members of Kota's militia and the Alliance to Restore the Republic and used to transport rebel soldiers into battle against the Empire. Due to so many MAAT gunships being captured by the Rebellion, the Empire would stop producing them, and began work on creating an new design for a Imperial gunship.
